MUNICH, GERMANY— Prost! Cheers!
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fair, with six million people from all over the world attending every year to celebrate.
According to the guides with the Bus 2 Alps tour group, the tradition started in 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese. They had an extravagant, three-week long wedding reception that Munich citizens were invited to attend. The celebration was so great, that they decided to host another party in honor of it the following year and every year since.
The festival was filled with two-story high beer tents, carnival rides, souvenir shops and food stands with tradition German specialties.
